Responsibilities

  • Complete employee orientation
  • Read blueprints and weld assemblies to comply with engineering standards
  • Selects, positions and aligns dies in machine ram and bed
  • Devises and builds temporary dies
  • Turns set screws or bolts to fasten clamp bar that holds dies firmly in position
  • Adjusts screws to set specified pressure of ram and clearance between dies to thickness of metal as indicated by calibrated scale or feelers
  • Lay out or detail layout on work stock from blueprints or templates
  • Position workplace manually or with crane to align layout marks to dies
  • Start machine to lower ram or press pedal to activate ram that bends or cuts metal
  • Set stops on machine bed and repositions stock to run successive pieces or to perform multiple operations
  • Verify dimensions of work piece

  • Projects as assigned by the Supervisor

Education/Experience Required

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • 1-3 months related experience and/or training
  • Certification in forklift operation. The company will train, following hire, if necessary

Skills and Abilities

  • Read, analyze and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating/maintenance instructions and procedural manuals
  • Read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos
  • Apply skills to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral and diagram form
  • Write simple correspondence
  • Effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to other employees
  • Satisfactorily perform essential duties
  • Ability to respond to common inquiries
  • Add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure
  • Calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference and volume

Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • Employee must be able to regularly stand and walk for extended periods of time
  • Use hands to feel, finger or handle all types of materials
  • Reach with hands and arms
  • Stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl and occasionally sit, climb or balance
  • Requires regular lifting of up to 50 pounds
  • Specific vision requirements; close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust your focus

Safety Issues

  • Must follow all safety rules and regulations regarding safety policies
  • Follow safety instructions and understand standard operating procedures
  • Regularly check bulletin board safety notices
  • Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts
  • Occasionally exposed to vibration
  • Noise level is usually high and ear plugs are required
  • In the event of violation of the personal health safety and conduct rules, disciplinary actions will be imposed per the disciplinary process
