Job description

General Responsibilities

  • Analyze work orders and read blueprints to determine product identification
  • Determine inventory physically and through JDE
  • Report accurate quantities on packaging labels.
  • Read Order Bundle List to determine material quantity requirements
  • Count number of items to be banded to verify number specified on Order Bundle List
  • Unwind plastic or metal banding from reel, wrap band around stack or bundle, insert loose end of banding into strapping tool and cinch, crimp and clamp banding material with strapping tool to secure items for shipping
  • Prepare and apply lumber and other reinforcement material to protect bundles during shipment or storage
  • Manually stack bundled articles on pallet
  • Wrap protective material around bundled product making sure it is sealed
  • Identify each pallet with a label including customer name, order number, address and other identifying data
  • Measure each piece as it is stacked on the pallet for verification
  • Record information, Weight, LxWxH and pallet quantity in “LOADER NOTES”.
  • Inspect material, product and containers at each step of the packaging process
  • Load product onto trucks for shipments
  • Move product into proper storage areas
  • Identify carrier and PRO product correctly
  • Must be forklift certified
  • Must be familiar with all shipping documents
  • Must follow Standard Work Instructions for Loading and Shipping
  • Load product onto Flatbed in such a manner as to maintain stability of the load
  • Determine proper sequence of loading to eliminate damage to product.
  • Scan product onto truck as items are loaded
  • Check off truck load using “LOADER SCREEN SHOT”
  • Keep warehouse in an orderly manner
  • Cube out truck when material allows
  • Determine max weight for load, do not exceed max weight
  • Determine max weight per axle, do not exceed max weight
  • Pull trailers into pit for loading and pull out of pit and move to yard for pickup

  • Projects as assigned by the Supervisor

Education/Experience Required

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • 3-6 months related experience and/or training
  • Certification in forklift operation. The company will train, following hire, if necessary

Skills and Abilities

  • Read, analyze and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating/maintenance instructions and procedural manuals
  • Read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos
  • Apply skills to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral and diagram form
  • Satisfactorily perform essential duties
  • Ability to respond to common inquiries
  • Add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure
  • Calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference and volume

Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • Employee must be able to regularly stand and walk for extended periods of time
  • Use hands to feel, finger or handle all types of materials
  • Reach with hands and arms
  • Stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl and occasionally sit, climb or balance
  • Requires regular lifting of up to 60 pounds, two man lifting over 60 pounds.
  • Specific vision requirements; close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust your focus
  • Detect smells of machine performance malfunctions or poor quality paint

Safety Issues

  • Must follow all safety rules and regulations regarding safety policies
  • Follow safety instructions and understand standard operating procedures
  • Regularly check bulletin board safety notices
  • Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts
  • Occasionally exposed to vibration
  • Noise level is usually high and ear plugs are required

In the event of violation of the personal health safety and conduct rules, disciplinary actions will be imposed per the disciplinary process

  • Monday- Thursday 3:30pm-2:00am 10- hour shifts
