Steel King Announces Succession Plan as Vice President David Scidmore Plans Retirement
VP of Manufacturing to retire at the end of the year
STEVENS POINT, WIS. – Steel King Industries, a leading manufacturer of storage rack and material handling products has announced that after almost nine years of dedicated service to the company and its customers, Vice President of Manufacturing Dave Scidmore, will be retiring from Steel King at the end of this year (December 31, 2025).
Scidmore has been a driving force in shaping Steel King’s manufacturing strategy and a champion of the company’s Design for Manufacturing (DFM) approach. A patient leader, Scidmore has been a respected mentor for the teams that he’s lead.
“Since meeting Dave when he joined the company, I’ve been able to see firsthand his strong leadership, collaborate with him as a peer, and become his biggest supporter” said Steel King President Brian Pfannes. “His efforts to develop Steel King’s next generation of manufacturing leaders has positioned us well for success.”
Before joining the company, Scidmore was a Steel King customer for many years, and believed then, just as much as today, in the value of what being a premium, high quality, “Made in the USA” brand means, and he proudly instilled that same belief in many at Steel King.
Under Scidmore’s leadership, the company has seen a transformation in safety, quality, and operational improvements across all three of its production facilities. He guided the production team during a roof collapse at the company’s New London manufacturing facility and lead the manufacturing team from the shop floor during the global pandemic in 2020.
“In addition to his accomplishments here at Steel King, I truly believe Dave’s greatest gift as a leader was his unique ability to develop the strong manufacturing team that we have today. Undoubtedly, this team will have a positive impact on our company culture and shared successes for many years to come,” Pfannes added.
Looking Ahead
Earlier this year, the company initiated a thorough and systematic recruitment process to identify its next Vice President of Manufacturing, with the goal of finding a leader who can build on the strong foundation Scidmore will leave behind and one who shares in the company’s vision for continued growth, relentless pursuit of learning and operational excellence.
Once a new VP of Manufacturing is in place, Scidmore will help with the transition through the remainder of the year.
