Corporate Accounting Manager
Responsibilities
Under the direction of the Vice President-Finance, the Accounting Manager will be responsible for managing general accounting, month-end/year-end closing processes, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Payroll, Credit & Collections, Fixed Assets and other functions key to timely and accurate financial reporting. The Accounting Manager will bring a strong sense of collaboration and willingness to develop Steel King’s people, processes, and capabilities of the accounting department to support the organization’s growth and strategies. Essential Functions
• Lead, mentor and develop a high performing team. Fostering collaboration, productivity and professional development.
Execute a timely and accurate month end close process.
• Prepare and deliver insightful monthly financial statements and management reporting packet including key financial metrics and supporting commentary. • Develop, document, maintain business processes and accounting policies to ensure strong internal controls.
• Identify opportunities and push to automate, scale and streamline existing accounting processes.
• Work collaboratively with members of various departments, acting as a change agent to help identify, present and implement solutions that result in process improvements, automation and enhanced reporting capabilities across the organization.
• Monthly Balance Sheet, Income Statement and Variance analysis including monthly account reconciliations.
• Research and recommend appropriate accounting treatment for business activities and technical accounting issues.
• Provide leadership and team coaching, validating work products are accurate and appropriate, including journal entries, financial analysis, external and regulatory reports, etc.
• Develops, implements, and documents a robust business process to close the books with special emphasis on a structured, repeatable process with clear responsibilities driven by SOPs and clear deliverables with deadlines
• Lead the Corporate Departmental budget process, working directly with peers to establish annual department level budgets and monthly variance reporting.
• Works closely with the external auditors and serves as the primary contact for all external audit matters • Ensures the quality of the function’s deliverables are of the highest standard and installs a culture of “no surprises”
• Effectively communicates to various levels of management and within theaccounting team • Leads and models engagement of the accounting team with other parts of the business to drive value
• Performs other duties as assigned
Education/Experience Required
• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting
• CPA or CMA preferred
• 3+ years experience Accounting Management – Corporate or Divisional Level
• Manufacturing Experience required
• Excellent knowledge of US GAAP and internal controls
• Ability to lead and develop people, processes and technology
• Comfortable and thrive in a fast-past, growing organization
• Significant experience with ERP systems, preference given to prior JD Edwards experience.
