Responsibilities
This position will support and assist with the day-to-day administration of all HR activities and functions at all locations; however, the primary focus will be on the New London, WI location. Willingness to travel to Stevens Point, WI one day a week.
General Responsibilities Payroll:
- Oversee the timecard process assuring that managers and supervisors are updating necessary information and assisting as needed.
- Process temporary associate UKG hours and send them to agencies weekly.
- Enter new hire information into UKG.
- Reconcile weekly invoices from uniform supplier to coincide with UKG data.
- Maintain anniversary and referral bonus tracking and provide to accounting for payment the first pay date of each month.
- Process payroll changes in UKG.
- Process all termination paperwork in UKG on a timely basis. Recruiting/New Hire Orientation:
- Acts as the back-up liaison between Staffing Agencies and Steel King locations.
- The local HR Generalist will back up the Recruiter to post job openings and sign-up sheets in employee breakrooms.
- Serves as a back-up to conduct new employee orientations for shop and all office employees to cover company policies, benefits, and other employment-related compliance items.
- Train new employees on benefit enrollment, pay stub look-up, and retirement savings account set-up.
- Complete new hire reporting paperwork including E-verify (I9s) and the state online reporting center.
Benefits:
- Conduct New Hire benefit orientation each month for newly eligible employees on all shifts. • Annually assist with benefit enrollment process including input into UKG and employee meetings.
- Process new hire benefit enrollments and any benefit changes in UKG.
- Manage disability claims for shop. Serve as back-up to other locations (Rome, GA & Stevens Point, WI) HR Representatives in their absence.
- Assist employees in applying for FMLA leave requests through our Absence Management vendor and track employee leaves in the time management system for office and shop employees located in New London, WI.
- In coordination with the Corporate Sr. HR Generalist, file and manage Workers Compensation claims for New London, WI shop and all office employees. Serve as back-up to local HR Generalists in their absence.
- Maintain New London’s OSHA 300 Log and 300A postings in the facility.
- Assist employees with the ordering of safety glasses, act as liaison between the vendor and employee.
General:
- Assist with the day-to-day HR activities and function.
- Facilitate maintenance of accurate and complete personnel records including attendance and disciplinary notices, ensuring that rules concerning confidentiality are followed.
- Conduct investigations concerning employee incidents and work with plant manager and supervisors to ensure the appropriate end result.
- Facilitate union grievance procedures.
- Complete employment verifications.
- Complete paperwork at termination, including unemployment insurance claims and report to supervisors any disputed claims.
- Maintain records for length of service awards for all employees and order gifts when milestones have been met.
- As directed by Corporate, coordinate annual wellness health incentive report card events and activities. • Maintain employee personnel files.
- Greet and direct all outside visitors as they appear at the office entrance.
- Answer and direct all incoming phone calls.
- Coordinate quarterly 401k on-site visits for New London location and attend off hour sessions.
- Coordinate employee lunches, picnics, and other employee relations events.
- In coordination with the HR Director, maintain HR Department Standard Work Procedures.
- Assume other special activities as necessary to include wellness activities, participate in open benefit enrollment and all other duties as assigned by the HR Director and or Executive Committee.
Education/Experience Required
- BS/BA from an accredited university in HR Preferred.
- 2-4 years related experience – Manufacturing experience preferred.
- SHRM-PHR a plus
